Unlike some people lucky enough to know exactly what career they wanted to go into from a very young age, I never had that defining moment. I chose a degree in Business Management because I liked my A-Level Business Studies teacher and she made the content easy to understand. It was either Law or Business Management. I wasn’t very argumentative or much of a reader as I was told lawyers had to be and I knew nothing about Law so I opted for the latter. Best decision ever.
Fast forward to the end of three years of stability, predictability and too much free time and I was back where I started; unsure what to do with my shiny new degree. I noticed though that I really enjoyed and I was interested in modules like Marketing, Strategic Management and International Business Operations which all had common themes of business strategy and marketing challenges.
An opportunity for a marketing internship in London later sprung up and I embraced it whole-heartedly. I fell in love with branding and later moved on to work at a digital agency, which shared my passion for branding but focused solely on the social media aspect. Eager to broaden my understanding of branding and after searching far and wide, I finally found JPC.
I chose JPC because from what I gathered initially, they truly understand both branding and strategy. It has been a month (already!) since I’ve joined the JPC team and they have exceeded my expectations. I’m learning from professionals who deliver the best results possible and take pride in the work they produce. I love the JPC culture and how open and willing everyone is to enhance my experience here.
With time comes more knowledge and responsibility and I aspire to keep learning and demonstrate my capabilities in the best way possible. With time also comes certainty and I am sure this is where I want to be. The Make Your Own Career programme offers a great deal of career progression and it is a fantastic opportunity for someone like me who wishes to see projects come alive successfully and delve deeper into a career in branding.
The new experience at JPC unravels everyday, with new challenges and lessons to learn which calls for a blog update (once I have settled in) about my progress and how I’ve evolved into an amateur branding professional…baby steps.
